The Missouri Highway Patrol has recovered the body of a Chicago man who drowned at Lake of the Ozarks Sunday evening.

The man’s death is the first drowning of 2023 for Troop F, which covers the lake, the patrol said in an online incident report.

Kendall Henderson, 30, dove into the water from the side of a dock in the main channel about 8 p.m. Sunday. He started to swim away from the dock, which is located at the 20 mile mark, the report said.

“(Henderson) began to struggle, went below the surface of the water and did not resurface,” the report said.

Media reports indicated that divers entered the water after 9 p.m. Sunday.

A dispatcher with Troop F said that Henderson’s body was recovered Monday morning. Henderson was pronounced dead by Camden County Medical Examiner Steve Dougan just before 10 a.m.
