Missouri man, 70, accused of beating brother with hammer
SIKESTON, Mo. – A 70-year-old southeast Missouri man is jailed on $25,000 bond after being accused of pummeling his brother on the head with a hammer.
The (Sikeston) Standard Democrat reports that prosecutors in Scott County have charged Jerry Savat of Sikeston with second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
Sheriff Rick Walter reports that a deputy responding to a reported assault at Savat’s home found Bruce Savat with a head injury and covered with blood.
Walter says Jerry Savat told the deputy he “lost it” during an argument and repeatedly hit his brother on the head with a hammer.
