A Missouri dad was on a late-night food run when he stopped at a convenience store to cash in a winning lottery ticket he was still holding onto.

While there, he decided to buy a “$100,000 Prize Multiplier” Scratchers game, according to an Aug. 2 news release from Missouri Lottery.

The man scratched his ticket to see that he won what he first thought was a $5,000 prize. But then he realized there was a “20X” multiplier — bringing his prize to $100,000.

With his newfound cash, the father says he will buy his son a new car. He plans to save the rest of the money.

The winning ticket was bought at Murphy Oil USA on Highway 60 in Dexter in the southeast corner of Missouri.
