$55,000 in illegally imported erectile dysfunction pills seized in Missouri, feds say
Shipments containing thousands of erectile dysfunction pills were seized over the course of two days in St. Louis, Missouri, customs officials say.
According to a Feb. 1 news release, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials stopped three shipments on Jan. 29 and 30.
The shipments contained 2,350 Sildenafil Citrate and Tadalafil tablets, both of which are found in erectile dysfunction medication, the release said.
The officers discovered the illegally imported medications in packages labeled as “health supplements.”
The supplements were coming from Singapore and headed to Pacific, Wentzville and Arnold, all in Missouri, the release said.
According to officials, the legal value of the medications is $55,000.
Officials warn against people using these unprescribed and unregulated medications.
“Consumers do not realize the risk they are taking when using prescription drugs from other countries,” St. Louis’ Port Director said in the release. “These non-regulated drugs could cause health concerns or even death.”
