Missouri woman accused of posing with corpse to stand trial

NEOSHO, Mo. – A southwest Missouri woman accused of dumping the body of an apparent drug overdose victim will stand trial after waiving her right to a preliminary hearing.

The Joplin Globe reports 24-year-old Chelsie Berry of Carl Junction waived the hearing Tuesday in Newton County Circuit Court on a charge of abandonment of a corpse. She is scheduled to make an initial appearance later this month.

Berry and 28-year-old Jared Prier are accused of dumping the body of 30-year-old Dennis Meyer in the driveway of a rural Joplin home on Aug. 22 after taking photos of themselves with his body and posting them on Facebook.

Investigators say Berry told them Meyer injected himself with a drug in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant, passed out and died.
