Nervous about pumping gas during the coronavirus pandemic? Hy-Vee will do it for you

If you’re not exactly keen on touching gas pumps during the coronavirus pandemic, Hy-Vee might be able to help.

The company is offering free full-service fueling at its more than 165 convenience stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin, Hy-Vee announced Tuesday. Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh stores are included.

The service will be available at select fuel pumps from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. all week long, according to a news release.

To use the service, press the “Fuel Help” button or call the phone number listed on signage at the pump, the release said. Customers can also use the service to order items from the convenience store and have them delivered to their cars.

An employee will meet the customer at their car to process payment and pump gasoline, the release said. The customer can pay with a debit or credit card and will never have to leave their car.

All employees will be wearing gloves, the company said.
