Burglar steals $71,000 in video games but gets caught selling them, Missouri cops say

A burglar is accused of stealing over $71,000 in video games as well as silver, cash and a handgun from a store, Missouri police say.

He got caught trying to sell the games to other video game stores in the area, cops say.

A burglar broke into Trade-N-Games near Fenton, Missouri in August, setting off an alarm in the early morning hours, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The burglar stole a safe that was in the store’s office. Inside it were the rare and valuable video games, about $17,000 in silver coins, $10,000 in cash and a silver .357 Magnum revolver, according to a probable cause affidavit.

In November, a man and woman tried selling six games to a business in Maryville, Illinois, but an employee grew suspicious and told the owner of Trade-N-Games, according to the affidavit. The employee refused to buy the games.

The man and woman continued selling games at other stores in the area, and detectives followed their trail, identifying suspects through video surveillance and showing photo lineups to employees, police said.

“Our detectives busted their humps to solve the case and today, we have a suspect in custody with charges,” police said in a Facebook post.

Damon W. Jackson, of St. Louis, was arrested and charged with felony stealing and burglary, police said.
