Missouri licenses medical marijuana growers, transporters, including 8 in KC area

Twenty-one facilities, including eight in the Kansas City area, have had their applications approved to transport medical marijuana in Missouri, the state’s Department of Health and Senior Services announced in a news release.

The department also said in a separate release that it has begun issuing 60 licenses for medical marijuana cultivation facilities this week.

On Monday, the department said it completed the first round of licensing and certifying medical marijuana transportation facilities and posted a list of 21 applicants that were approved and three that were denied, including one location in Kansas City, The World of Comfort LLC at 11732 Blue Ridge Blvd.

The following Kansas City-area locations were approved to serve as transportation facilities for the state’s new medical marijuana program:

Charas Capital LLC, Lot 1 of the Hydro Conduit Subdivision, Riverside

Missouri Made Marijuana LLC, 8651 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City

Red Eye Transport LLC, 5620 E. Missouri 150, Kansas City

KC Cann Transport LLC, 401 N.W. 10th St., Blue Springs

Next Wave MO LLC, 14655 Prospect Ave., Kansas City

Taney Street Nursery LLC, 1251 Taney St., North Kansas City

Missouri Hemp Improvement Company, 120 Swift Ave., North Kansas City

CLS Med-Can Logistics LLC, 24W W. 78th St., Kansas City

Cultivation facilities, or commercial growers, that applied for a license are expected to find out by the end of the week if they’ve been approved or denied, the department stated Thursday.

The department said it’s issuing licenses to cultivation facilities that met the eligibility requirements, ranked the highest by a blind scorer.

After all are notified, the department said it plans to post the final score of all the applicants to its website.
