Walmart worker was beaten by carjackers — but key fob came to the rescue, MO cops say

A woman thwarted a carjacking after she got off of work on Sunday. How? Her key fob, police in Maplewood, Missouri, said in a release posted to Facebook.

Police said the woman was approached when she ended her shift at a Walmart. While walking to her car in the parking lot, three male suspects approached her from behind on foot.

One of the men punched her in the back of her head, knocking her to the ground, while the other two suspects punched and kicked her while trying to grab her keys, police said.

The victim’s mouth was covered by one of the suspects, police said, but she managed to maintain control of her car keys and activated the vehicle’s panic alarm on her key fob, causing the suspects to flee without her vehicle.

While she escaped without serious injury, police said she suffered minor injuries during the robbery attempt and paramedics treated her at the scene.
