Missouri man dies after walking in front of tractor-trailer

FESTUS, Mo. – A 21-year-old St. Louis-area man is dead after walking into the path of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 55.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Elijah Lebcowitz of Eureka was struck about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in Jefferson County after walking in front of a tractor-trailer driven by a man from Clarksville, Tennessee. Lebcowitz died at the scene.

It wasn’t immediately clear why he was walking on the interstate.
