60 peacocks and 8 rabbits die in Missouri barn fire
A fire at a barn in the northeast Missouri town of Palmyra is blamed in the death of 68 animals.
KHQA-TV reports that the fire broke out Sunday afternoon in a two-story barn. Fire officials say the barn housed eight rabbits and 60 peacocks. All of the animals died.
One firefighter was treated for exhaustion.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation. The owner of the property was not at home when the fire broke out.
