Kansas man pleads guilty to illegally selling guns

MANHATTAN, Kan. – A Manhattan, Kansas, man has pleaded guilty to six counts of exporting and attempting to export firearms to other countries illegally.

Authorities say Michael Andrew Ryan, 35, used a hidden internet marketplace known for its secrecy. The indictment says he sometimes lied about who was buying the guns and then shipped them using FedEx Airway.

The indictment lists Manhattan-based Santa Fe Enterprises and Flint Hills Gun Works as businesses that Ryan made a false statement to or attempted to purchase a gun from. A man at Flint Hills Gun Works declined The Wichita Eagle’s request for comment.

Ryan shipped or planned to ship a variety of guns to Pinner, England; Edinburgh, Scotland; Victoria, Australia; and Mallow, Ireland. The weapons included a revolver, pistols, Glocks, UZIs, magazines and ammunition.

Ryan is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 12.
