The Kansas Bureau of Investigation searched Friday for a 12-year-old and his father, who is wanted by police on suspicion of aggravated assault and child endangerment and is believed to be armed.

Andrew Drake is with his father, Stephen Drake Jr., 40, who does not have legal custody and is wanted by police, according to the KBI. Stephen Drake Jr. is fleeing apprehension by police and is believed to be in the Lawrence area.

The KBI said Stephen Drake Jr. had made threatening statements and was accused of aggravated interference with parental custody.

Stephen Drake Jr. may have changed his appearance. He could be driving a silver 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 extended cab truck, a white Ford Crown Victoria or a Mercury Grand Marquis. The GMC Sierra may carry the Kansas license plate 609GFM.

The father and son may have left the Lawrence area for another part of the state or could be on their way to Colorado, the KBI said.

Anyone who sees Andrew Drake, Stephen Drake Jr. or any of the vehicles, is asked to call 911. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 800-KS-CRIME or the Lawrence Police Department at 785-331-9870.
