Body found in Maize parking lot identified as missing man Adam Sabri

A decomposing body found earlier this week in a Maize apartment complex parking lot has been positively identified as that of a missing man named Adam Sabri, Maize Police Chief Matt Jensby said Friday.

Dental records were used to identify Sabri, Jensby said. An autopsy so far has been inconclusive on a cause of death, he said. Earlier, Jensby had said investigators were treating it as a suspicious death but said people at the apartment complex are not in danger.

It could be four to six months before investigators get results of toxicology testing, he said. Decomposition can complicate testing, including discovering whether a person consumed drugs. That’s because byproducts of decomposition can mask the presence of drugs.

Sabri’s body was found Monday morning in a 2008 Saturn Aura in a parking lot at the Fieldstone Apartments complex in the 5000 block of North Maize Road. A resident had called 911 to a report a stench around the car, where flies were swarming.

Nearly three months before Maize police found Sabri’s body, his adult daughter reported to Wichita police that he had not returned from work.

On Feb. 10, Sabri’s daughter told police that she had tried to reach him several times but couldn’t because his cellphone was turned off, a Wichita police incident report says. He had been missing since then.

Sabri, according to authorities, was an owner of a sports bar and grill in McPherson.
