Kansas women’s basketball player Elle Evans won the 37th-annual State Farm College 3-Point Championship on Friday night at tradition-rich Hinkle Fieldhouse on Butler University’s campus in Indianapolis, site of the Final Four.

Evans, a 6-foot-3 senior guard from Edwardsville, Illinois, who played two seasons at North Dakota State before joining the Jayhawks in 2024-25, prevailed in a competition that included eight participants.

Evans hit 18 of 25 3-pointers the final round, defeating Shay Ciezki of the Indiana Hoosiers by a final round score of 22-16. Evans started the final round 0 for 3, then knocked down 18 of the final 22 shots from beyond the arc.

Others who competed: Ryanne Allen (Villanova), Iyana Moore (Notre Dame), Natalie Pasco (Boise State), Sydney Shaw (West Virginia), Haleigh Timmer (Oklahoma State) and Lee Volker (Marquette).

The contest featured three rounds of competition, with each round scored separately. All eight players competed in the first round, with the top four scores advancing to the semifinals and the two highest semifinal scores advancing to the final round.

Evans hit 137 of 314 3s in her two seasons at KU. Her 43.6% mark from 3 tied the school record held by Sandy Shaw (1987-88). Evans tied for seventh in school history in 3-pointers made (137 over two years). Her single-season total of 69 made 3s in 2024-25 tied for second in school history. Evans hit 45.3% of her 3s (68 of 15) this past season.

Evans had an eventful Friday night. She also combined with Purdue’s Fletcher Loyer and Portland State’s Jaylin Henderson to win the Team Shootout after Loyer drained a halfcourt shot for the victory. The Shootout features a mix of 3-point shooting and shooting from various spots on the floor. It is a “team” format, in which two male players and one female player combine their shooting efforts to advance through rounds.

DePaul’s C.J. Gunn won the men’s 3 point shooting contest. He defeated Donovan Atwell of Texas Tech in the final. Other competitors: Davion Bailey, Jadin Booth, Chase Johnson, Fletcher Loyer, Bruce Thornton, Chauncey Wiggins.

Meanwhile, Shaqir O’Neal of Sacramento State, won the slam dunk competition over Nico Ashley, Bryson Dawkins, Jaylin Henderson, LaJae Jones, William Kyle and Sam Phipps.
