New year, new job? See 5 Kansas job openings that pay more than $60,000 a year
We’re already halfway through the first month of 2025, with plenty of time left to conquer New Year’s goals.
But if one of those goals is to switch to a new gig, it may be easier said than done. Searching for a job can be time-consuming, confusing and disappointing depending on what you may be looking for.
Kansas has a state job opening portal that is updated regularly, listing open jobs, qualifications, descriptions and yes, unlike some other job portals, they do post the salary range. The portal is currently advertising 499 open jobs.
We’ve gathered five jobs from the Kansas job portal paying more than $60,000 a year. All of these jobs are listed as “statewide,” so the location may be flexible depending on the job.
Local Bridge Engineer
Agency: Department of Transportation
Pay: $89,232 to $93,641.60
Qualifications: Must have two years of experience in bridge design and an engineering license.
Description: This person will oversee and coordinate bridge design for projects that are federally funded, as well as mentor other engineers on the team on design and inspection.
Regional Director-Northeast
Agency: Department of Commerce
Pay: $62,000 to $65,520
Qualifications: Must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two years of experience in marketing, business management or economic development.
Description: As the Department of Commerce’s business liaison for Northeast Kansas (representing 10 different counties), this person will be responsible for presenting business development programs to the state, as well as different financial options to businesses.
Field Survey Project Manager
Agency: Department of Transportation
Pay: $82,950.40 to $84,957.60
Qualifications: Must have a Kansas Board of Technical Professions land surveying license
Description: This person will cover the full state by supervising all surveying done by the Bureau of Right of Way, as well as managing internal resources and more.
Health Facility Surveyor
Agency: Department of Health and Environment
Pay: $30.46 to $32.55/hour
Qualifications: Must have a degree in nursing or a health care-related field.
Description: This person will conduct in-person surveys of health facilities, as well as follow up on complaints filed against health facilities and more.
Professional Engineer
Agency: Department of Agriculture
Pay: $85,000 to $90,000
Qualifications: Must have a degree in engineering or related field, as well as a Kansas Board of Technical Professions engineering license.
Description: This person will be on the dam safety team reviewing and approving plans, overseeing quality control and monitoring existing dams safety.
