This Kansas City suburb is one of the least stressed cities in America, report says

If it feels like 2020 has gone out of its way to make you more stressed out, you’re not alone.

Many Americans are feeling more stress than usual due to health and financial woes related to the coronavirus pandemic.

But a suburb of Kansas City is coping better than others, according to a report by personal finance website Wallethub.

Overland Park is the fifth least stressed city in the U.S., the report said.

Lincoln, Nebraska, nabbed the top spot followed by Boise, Idaho; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Fargo, North Dakota.

The most stressed cities in the U.S.? Cleveland; Detroit; Birmingham, Alabama; Gulfport, Mississippi; and Newark, New Jersey.

The report analyzed 182 cities on several types of stressors including work, health and safety, finances and family, the report said.

Overland Park ranked fifth for least financial stress — its highest rank — which assessed factors such as median annual household income, foreclosure rate, personal bankruptcy rate and median credit score, among others.

The city tied with Seattle for the highest median credit score on the list and ranked third among cities with the most affordable housing, the report said.

Overland Park experiences its greatest amount of stress at work, the report said. The city ranked 99th for least work stress, which includes average weekly hours worked, job security, unemployment rate and average commute time.

The city snagged the No. 11 spot for least family stress, which looks at separation and divorce rates, median duration of current marriages, share of single parent households and child care costs.

It ranked 13th for the least amount of stress related to health and safety, which looked at factors including hate crime incidents per capita, crime rate, share of adults with inadequate sleep, physical activity rate and the state’s health improvements during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the report.

Overland Park also averages the fifth for highest hours of sleep per night, the report said.
