6-foot snake found in couch of Kansas home, officials say. It was a boa constrictor
Some Kansas residents found a surprise visitor in their living room couch: a 6-foot boa constrictor.
A resident in Rose Hill, a town about 20 miles southeast of Wichita, dialed 911 on Monday morning after finding the snake, according to a news release.
Rose Hill police officers requested assistance from Butler County firefighters for the “unusual” situation.
Deputy Fire Chief Melvin Linot, who’s the department’s “snake charmer,” wrangled the nonvenomous snake from couch with the help of another firefighter, officials said.
On Facebook, the fire department posted that the residents have lived in the duplex for four years and never owned a snake.
Now firefighters are looking for anyone who might be missing a boa constrictor.
