Belfonte recalls ‘Chocolate to Die For’ ice cream after exposure to peanuts
Belfonte issued a recall for one of its ice creams because it may contain undisclosed peanuts, the company said Tuesday.
The product affected by the recall is the 1.5 quart premium ice cream cartons in the flavor “Chocolate to Die For.” It was produced in Belfonte’s Kansas City manufacturing facility, the company said.
The affected products have the plant code 29-050 on the lid and UPC number 83057 17049. The expiration date on affected products is either May 18, 2024 or June 8, 2024.
Affected products were distributed in the following areas:
- Kansas City metro area
- Tulsa, Oklahoma
- Columbia, Missouri
- Springfield, Missouri
The recalled ice cream poses a risk to people who are allergic to peanuts. The product was recalled after a complaint from a customer, who discovered the product contained undisclosed peanuts, Belfonte said.
Belfonte has not received any reports of illness associated with the product, the company said. Other Belfonte dairy products are not included in the recall.
