Kim York now unopposed for Cass County circuit clerk

Republican voters in Cass County no longer have a contested race for their next circuit clerk, now that incumbent Amy Bell has withdrawn.

Bell had been suspended from her circuit court duties last August by Cass County Judge William Collins, after he said she hired a close friend to oversee three special projects that were never completed.

The following month, Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed a civil ouster petition and misdemeanor criminal charges against Bell, saying she failed to perform duties required by law.

In a settlement in early July, Bell resigned and withdrew her name from the August ballot.

That virtually assures the job will go to Republican Kim York, a 46-year-old Raymore resident who is running unopposed in August and November.

York, a certified public accountant, is a member of the Raymore-Peculiar school board.
