See who’s entered the race so far to be the next mayor of Kansas City

Candidates have begun to file their bids with the state of Missouri for Kansas City mayor ahead of next year’s election, according to campaign finance records.

Voters will elect a new mayor in 2027 as Quinton Lucas finishes his second term in office. The primary is in April 2027, with a June 2027 election.

There are active committees supporting five different candidates as of Saturday, according to Missouri Ethics Commission records.

Here’s a quick look at each candidate so far.

Kenda Tomes McClain

Kenda Tomes McClain is supported by Kenda Tomes McClain 4 KC.

According to her campaign website, McClain is an attorney in Kansas City specializing in finance.

Crispin Rea

Crispin Rea is supported by Committee to Elect Crispin Rea.

Rea currently serves as Kansas City councilman for the 4th District at Large.

Wes Rogers

Wes Rogers is supported by Committee to Elect Wes Rogers.

Rogers currently serves as Kansas City councilman for the 2nd District.

Ryana Parks-Shaw

Ryana Parks-Shaw is supported by Friends for Ryana Parks-Shaw.

Parks-Shaw currently serves as councilwoman for Kansas City’s 5th District. She is also the Mayor Pro-Tem.

P.J. Guastello

P.J. Guastello is supported by P.J. Guastello for Mayor.

Guastello is the co-owner of Oak Ridge Family Social Club, a private club with indoor and outdoor activities.
