Two incumbents and a nonprofit founder earned seats on the Park Hill School District Board of Education during Tuesday’s municipal election.

Alexia Norris and Janice Bolin, the race’s two incumbents, along with Deanna Muñoz, a lifelong Northland resident, gained voter approval for the three open, at-large seats overseeing the school district, according to unofficial results reported by the Platte County Board of Elections Tuesday night.

Brandon Kleinmeyer, a tax professional, also ran for election, but only received 18% of the 12,114 votes counted with 19 of 20 precincts reporting. Bolin earned 26%, Norris 29% and Muñoz 25%.

Norris was appointed to the nonpartisan school board last year. Bolin has been a member of the board for 17 years.

Muñoz is the founder of the Chicano Center for the Arts and director of organizing for the Latinx Education Collaborative.

Leading up to the election, both Bolin and Norris pointed to better supporting educators and students, creating a sense of belonging within the district and ensuring the efficient use of bond dollars from last year’s bond issue as top priorities if reelected.

Muñoz said her top priorities as a board member will be focusing on college and career readiness and improving educator support, school safety, transparency and accountability.
