3 candidates win Lee’s Summit City Council seats. 2 others lead by narrow margin

Lee’s Summit voters re-elected Mia Prier and Donnie Funk to seats on City Council, according to unofficial election results released Tuesday. Melanie Adkins was also elected , while Shari Frazier and Nyauna Cravens held narrow leads in their bids for seats.

Five seats on Lee’s Summit City Council were up for election Tuesday. District 1 incumbent Prier was unopposed in her contest. Elections for seats representing District 2, 3 and 4 were contested.

Frazier and Cravens held narrow leads in their races for District 2 and District 4 seats, respectively. Frazier claimed 50.5% of votes to Will Kraus’ 49.4%. Frazier held a lead of 57 votes Tuesday night.

Cravens held a lead of 42.2% of votes cast while Bob Jones claimed 41% and Scott Shepherd took 16.4%. Cravens held a 46-vote lead over Jones on Tuesday night.

In the District 3 race, Adkins took 60.4% of votes cast to Dana Arth’s 39.2%.

In the other District 4 race, incumbent council member Funk earned 56.7% of the vote to Zak Al-Shawish’s 42.9%.
