See who won seats on Johnson County Community College’s Board of Trustees
The Johnson County Community College Board of Trustees will see two incumbents return to the board alongside two new faces joining when the new term starts.
Four seats were up for election on the seven-member board, which oversees college affairs by setting the budget and tax levy alongside adopting policies.
Trustees are elected at-large. Incumbents Lee Cross, Mark Hamill and Dawn Rattan ran in the election alongside new candidates Carlton Abner, Chad Carroll, Jerry Charlton, Geoff Holton and Kenny Stokes.
According to unofficial Johnson County Election Office results,
Incumbents Rattan and Cross were reelected alongside newcomers Carroll and Holton. Rattan received 63,725 votes, Cross received 58,919 votes, Carroll received 55,633 votes and Holton received 53,081 votes.
Voters denied incumbent Hamill another term; he received 40,130 votes. Charlton received 32,857 votes, Stokes received 30,658 votes and Abner received 28,324 votes.
Board elections are technically nonpartisan, but local political parties weighed in. The Johnson County Democratic Party recommended Rattan, Cross, Carroll and Holton — who all won — while the Johnson County Republican Party recommended Hamill, Charlton, Stokes and Abner.
Election results will be officially certified later this month.
