Absentee voters in Missouri can start casting their ballots in-person. Here’s how
Missouri absentee voters can cast their presidential election ballots in-person starting Tuesday.
To qualify for absentee voting, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- You will be out of the county on Election Day
- You are either incapacitated or confined “due to illness or physical disability” or you are the primary caregiver of someone who is
- Your religious beliefs prevent you from voting on Election Day
- You are an election worker
- You are incarcerated but still eligible to vote
- You participate in Missouri’s address confidentiality program
This year, any voter who is at risk of contracting or transmitting COVID-19 is also eligible to vote absentee.
Qualified absentee voters, including anyone 65 or older, can vote in-person without requesting a ballot or getting it notarized
In-person absentee voting runs through Nov. 2.
Most in-person absentee voting will take place at local election authority offices. Kansas City voters can cast absentee ballots at Union Station’s Innovation Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Voters must bring proof of identification, as they would if they were voting on Election Day.
The deadline to request an absentee or mail-in ballot by mail, email or fax is Oct. 21.
All mail-in voters must get their ballots notarized. The notary requirement is waived for certain absentee voters, including those who are confined due to illness or disability and those who are at-risk for contracting COVID-19.
