Neighborhood alliance to honor Alvin Brooks
The South Kansas City Alliance will honor former Kansas City Councilman Alvin Brooks with a lifetime service award on Tuesday.
Brooks served as mayor pro tem and 6th District at-large councilman from 1999-2007. He also founded the Ad Hoc Group Against Crime and is a former president and current member of the Board of Police Commissioners.
The awards breakfast is at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Avila University’s Athletic Pavilion, 11901 Wornall Road. More information is at SouthKCAlliance.org.
Other neighborhood leaders and organizations will also be honored.
