The Kansas Board of Healing Arts is investigating U.S. Senate candidate Milton Wolf’s controversial postings on his Facebook page.

Those postings involved X-rays of dead and injured people and included jokes about the images. Wolf is a radiologist.

The Topeka Capital Journal’s Tim Carpenter confirmed the investigation in a story posted Tuesday night.

A board attorney acknowledged that an investigation was underway.

The Board of Healing Arts licenses health care providers in the state and handles cases involving professional misconduct.

The existence of the probe comes as the heated primary campaign between Wolf of Leawood and incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts hits the home stretch.

The primary election is Aug. 5.
