The Kansas City Council’s public safety committee allowed time Wednesday for brief comment about police handling of raucous crowds outside a weekend rally for presidential candidate Donald Trump.

But no protesters, or critics of police, showed up.

Committee chairwoman Alissia Canady said Police Chief Darryl Forté, who is out of town, wanted to be present for any substantive discussion about the police response to all types of crowd control, including parades and political demonstrations. So that discussion will occur later.
