Demolition of KU’s largest residence hall is set for Wednesday morning
The largest residence hall on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence is set to come down Wednesday at 9 a.m.
Demolition of the 10-story, 50-year-old McCollum Hall will take only seconds. The university has set a 600-foot evacuation perimeter around the implosion site that will also include street closings near McCollum from about 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
A public viewing area will be available in the Oliver residence hall parking lot at 19th Street and Naismith Drive.
University officials warn spectators that following the implosion the atmosphere will be very dusty for 10 to 15 minutes.
