Kansas City will hold a big recycling event Saturday
Kansas City will hold a free recycling collection event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Manual Technical Center, 1320 Truman Road.
The event, which is open to anyone in the area, brings together a host of community partners that specialize in hard-to-recycle trash:
▪ Surplus Exchange: cellphones, printers and other electronic devices. Monitor recycling costs $10 to $15 per item; other items recycled free.
▪ Disabled American Veterans: Clothing, accessories, books, footwear, toys, linens, housewares, small appliances (all in good working condition).
▪ Truman Habitat for Humanity Kansas City: Construction salvage, tools, building materials.
▪ Ripple Glass: All glass food and beverage containers of any color (including Mason jars and glass drinking vessels such as wine glasses).
▪ Kansas City municipal government: Waste tires, plastic bags, household batteries, household hazardous waste such as oils, paint and antifreeze.
▪ RevolveKC: Bicycles.
▪ Avenue of Life: Mattresses and furniture in good repair, household appliances for recycling or repair.
▪ Document Resources: Shredding of up to five medium boxes or bags of paper documents per person.
