Bill Clinton will be honored at KU
Former president Bill Clinton will be honored by the University of Kansas with the 2015 Dole Leadership Prize.
The prize will be awarded by KU’s Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics at a program at the Lied Center on Nov. 23. It’s free and open to the public, with a limited number of tickets available. A live stream will be available at DoleInstitute.org.
“President Clinton’s presidency included strong leadership and bipartisanship, traits that make him a worthy recipient of the Dole Leadership Prize,” Bill Lacy, director of the Dole Institute, said in a statement on Wednesday. “Much of his work as president — including his balancing of the budget and efforts to reach across the aisle — mirrors the mission of the Dole Institute and the values of Senator Dole.”
Clinton served as the 42nd president of the United States and was the first Democratic president in decades to be elected twice.
Past recipients of the Dole Leadership Prize include Nelson Mandela in 2013; Donna Shalala, a former health and human services secretary, in 2009; and George H.W. Bush, 41st president.
