Cliff Drive closes for construction

Cliff Drive, the Missouri scenic byway in Kansas City’s historic northeast area, will close Wednesday afternoon to vehicle traffic to allow major repairs to the stairs and stone walls.

Weather permitting, the work should be concluded in spring 2015, possibly by April. It is being paid for with a $642,000 federal scenic byways grant and $220,000 in local capital improvement sales tax dollars.

The money is for stair restoration and repairs to the curbs and crumbling stone walls overlooking the drive.
