Kansas City will learn Thursday if it remains a candidate for the 2016 GOP convention

Kansas City should learn Thursday afternoon if it is still in the running for the 2016 Republican National Convention.

A spokesman said the GOP’s convention site selection committee will meet by phone Thursday to review offers from the six cities competing for the gathering: Kansas City, Dallas, Denver, Cincinnati, Las Vegas and Cleveland.

Committee members are expected to narrow that list Thursday, perhaps to three cities, which they will visit in June.

The GOP will pick its convention site late this summer or early this fall.
