Report shows teacher salaries lagging behind cost-of-living and pay for other jobs

The Kansas Association of School Board has released data collected by its researchers showing how teacher salaries in the state compare to those elsewhere across the country.

KSBA says that its 32-page report shows that teacher salaries are falling behind the cost-of-living and other non-teaching incomes across the nation, including Kansas.

The report also shows that Kansas teacher salaries trail most states, the KSBA said, “especially those states with better student outcomes.” It says too that “difficulties may be rising in retaining teachers.”
