Over the last year, people across the country have reported receiving text messages from scammers instructing them to pay their highway tolls online or risk incurring late fees.

These texts appear to have been sent by a real agency like the Kansas or Missouri departments of transportation, but state and federal authorities warn against clicking any links in the texts or sharing personal information.
