Kansas City mayor appoints mayor pro tem, committee chairmen
Mayor Sly James has appointed 1st District at-large Councilman Scott Wagner as his mayor pro tem and announced committee chairman appointments.
Wagner lives in the Northland and is one of just four second-termers on the new council. He has been a loyal supporter of James’ agenda and will be stand-in mayor when James is out of town.
The mayor has created committees that review ordinances and handle the key initiatives in city government. Committee chairmen include Alissia Canady, Neighborhoods and Public Safety; Scott Taylor, Planning, Zoning and Economic Development; Jermaine Reed, Transportation and Infrastructure; Wagner, Finance and Governance; Dan Fowler, Ethics and Legal Review; Jolie Justus, Legislative; Quinton Lucas, Housing; Teresa Loar, Small Business, Entrepreneurship and Jobs; Justus, Airport; James, Youth Development.
