Election re-count confirms Katheryn Shields’ win in KC Council race

A re-count has confirmed that Katheryn Shields defeated Jim Glover to win the Kansas City Council’s 4th District at-large seat.

Glover sought a re-count in his June 23 general election loss to Shields after returns showed him losing by 132 votes out of 32,956 votes cast.

Election authorities in Kansas City and Cass, Clay and Platte counties did the recount, which was announced Wednesday. It showed the new official result was 16,564 for Shields and 16,391 for Glover, so Shields’ margin of victory was slightly larger.
