Mayor names new Kansas City park board appointee
Mayor Sly James on Tuesday appointed Amber Hackett to the Kansas City Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners, replacing McClain Bryant, who joined the mayor’s staff.
Hackett is a licensed attorney and has worked in the Kansas City non-profit sector since 2011. She is currently director of corporate and community relations at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City.
The five-member park board is one of the city’s most influential volunteer boards. Hackett was nominated through the mayor’s women’s empowerment initiative, which seeks to get more women into leadership positions in city government.
