Jackson County GOP to host conspiracy theorist Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a far-right conspiracy theorist, will be a keynote speaker at the Jackson County Republican Party’s Lincoln/Reagan Dinner in Blue Springs on Saturday.
The Georgia Republican, elected in 2020 and again in 2022, has promoted racist, antisemitic and right-wing conspiracy theories, including QAnon, the theory that claims that a cabal of child abusers conspired against former President Donald Trump.
Greene this week railed against a House bill that would strengthen protections for the transgender community amid an onslaught of Republican-led legislation that targets the community. Greene on Twitter called the bill a “weapon to destroy all of our rights.”
Last week, Greene joined conservatives in rallying against Bud Light for working with trans TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney. She posted a picture on social media that indicated she was switching to Coors Light, whose parent company has publicly supported the LGBTQ community.
Earlier this year, Greene called for a “national divorce” that would split up the U.S. by red and blue states. She has also claimed that several school shootings were “false flag” events perpetrated by government officials. Under Democratic leadership, Greene was stripped of her House committee assignments in 2021 due to her past comments but was elevated to new roles in the House Oversight and Accountability and Homeland Security committees once Republicans took control of the House this year.
Jackson County Republican Party Chair Mark Anthony Jones did not respond to a request for comment on Wednesday. But the county party’s website touts Greene as “always putting PEOPLE over politicians.”
“She is known to always speak the truth and for her refusal to back down from radical Democrats who are set on destroying America,” the website said.
The paid VIP event, which ranges from $60 to $5,000, is scheduled at the Blue Springs Elk Lodge on Saturday. Rep. Mark Alford, a freshman Missouri Republican who represents an area stretching from the Kansas City suburbs to the northern half of Columbia, is the other guest of honor.
Greene’s campaign is also holding a separate invitation-only cocktail and hors d’oeuvres fundraising event on Saturday at the Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs before the Lincoln/Reagan Dinner. Access to that event ranges from $100 to $500.
State Sen. Greg Razer, a Kansas City Democrat, in a text to The Star criticized the county party for hosting Greene.
“Embracing Marjorie Taylor Greene is further proof the Missouri Republican Party has been taken over by bigots, conspiracy theorists, and insurrectionists,” he said. “If there are any moderates left in that party, they should escape while there’s still time.”
