Republicans have floated Cole County Associate Circuit Judge Christopher Limbaugh as a potential candidate for Missouri’s next attorney general to replace Senator-elect Eric Schmitt.

Sources familiar with the appointment process said Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has interviewed Limbaugh for the position.

Parson appointed Limbaugh to his judicial position last year. He previously served as Parson’s general counsel. Before that, he was the elected prosecuting attorney of Cape Girardeau County.

Limbaugh is also the son of a federal court judge and cousin to the late conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh.
