Chiefs, Royals partner with local groups to give food, register voters at Arrowhead
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals partnered with the United Way of Greater Kansas City and other community groups including Harvesters to host a drive-thru voter registration and food distribution event at the Truman Sports Complex.
On Tuesday, “about 3,000 carloads of families,” came through the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot, Dave Herdman, a 15-year volunteer at Harvesters said.
“I’ve told people over and over again, you don’t know who’s coming through those lines. It’s people just like you.”
We’re all one big medical bill away from being in line. And we’re all one big job loss away from being in line,” Herdman said.
Meanwhile, in a “completely non-partisan” effort, volunteers were hard at work informing potential voters about registration, absentee and mail in voting in Missouri.
“What I’m finding is [people] don’t have information,” about the different ways to vote in the 2020 election, said Shelley Taylor-Doran from the Local Investment Commission.
“Especially since Missouri has made that kind of complicated.”
