Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens rappels into Springfield arena
Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, a former U.S. Navy SEAL, rappelled from the ceiling of an arena at a bull-riding event Saturday night in Springfield.
Along with four Army National Guardsmen carrying the American flag, Greitens dropped in before the performance of the national anthem at the PBR’s national Celebrate America Tour event at JQH Arena.
In front of thousands of onlookers, Greitens rappelled from the rafters as the announcer called him a hero and listed his military commendations, KY3 reports.
The governor posted the video on Facebook, saying: “It was an honor to be a part of PBR Springfield’s “Celebrate America”, honoring our country and our servicemen and women. Thanks to Professional Bull Riders for a great night--incredible athletes and a strong American spirit.”
This is the ninth year for the PBR PFI Western Invitational. The Built Ford Tough Series is televised nationally.
The video is going viral, even making it to Breitbart.
U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri was not to be outdone. She tweeted the video, saying she planned to rappel “into the dinner of the Women Lawyers Assoc of Greater St Louis next week.”
