The tweet from the White House deputy press secretary comes a little more than a week after President Donald Trump tweeted out the phrase “covfefe,” sparking a frenzy about its meaning.
“Some speculated that she might have been hacked,” surmised the Huffington Post. “Others wondered if it was a distraction from important issues, such as the Russia probes, the possible existence of tapes featuring fired FBI director James Comey, Qatar’s diplomatic crisis or the yet-to-be-released massive infrastructure plan.”
Take it easy on the conspiracy theories, others said.
“We could delve into Morse code patterns, maybe ones that signal distress, but Sanders is the mother of three children with her husband, Bryan Sanders, two girls and a boy, and a logical explanation could simply be that one of them got a hold of their mother’s phone and fired away the emojis,” reasoned Newsweek.
Sure enough, the hack was an inside job. In an explanation tweeted about two hours after the original, Sanders said her 3-year-old, Huck, took her phone:
“This is what happens when your 3 year old steals your phone. Thanks Huck!”
