Lynn Horsley: At City Hall this week: Dec. 12 - 16

The Kansas City Council has lots of unfinished business to try to resolve before taking time off for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Watching for progress or updates on 18th and Vine, an infrastructure bond package and the downtown convention hotel.

Here’s what’s on tap so far.

MONDAY, Dec. 12

City Manager Troy Schulte and council members Jermaine Reed and Quinton Lucas discuss plans for the $7 million in new investment to the 18th and Vine Jazz District. Press conference at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of 18th and The Paseo.

The South Kansas City Alliance will get a preview of the upcoming Missouri legislative session at a meeting at 6 p.m. at South Patrol, 9701 Marion Park Drive. The Missouri General Assembly session starts Jan. 4.

WEDNESDAY, Dec. 14

KC Council committees meet, with agendas outlined here.

THURSDAY, Dec. 15

The council’s finance committee and transportation and infrastructure committee hold a joint meeting at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall to continue work on a bond infrastructure proposal for next April’s ballot.

City council holds its regular 1 p.m. business session, 10th floor of City Hall, and 3 p.m. legislative session, 26th floor Council Chambers. The council is expected to approve a citizens petition initiative for an April ballot measure that calls for a  1/8 -cent citywide sales tax increase to support East Side economic development.
