Frequent fliers can enroll at KCI for security precheck program
Frequent travelers can enroll March 9 through 13 for the Transportation Security Administration’s precheck program at Kansas City International Airport.
This weeklong enrollment service at KCI will be in addition to the area’s usual enrollment site at 8819 Long St. in Lenexa.
Precheck allows travelers to go through special lanes and avoid removing their shoes and some other inconveniences of the usual screening process. It is available at numerous airports but at KCI is only available at Delta Airlines and Southwest Airlines gates. The application fee is $85.
Before signing up at KCI for the program, travelers are strongly encouraged to schedule their appointments online. Information is available at TSA.gov. Travelers should type in their basic identifying information and select “Kansas City, Mo” as the preferred appointment location. KCI will be listed under that location.
The in-person appointment to provide documentation proving identity and citizenship and fingerprints for a background check typically takes about 10 minutes.
