Kansas City hosts event for hard-to-recycle items on Nov. 5
Kansas City will host a collection event for hard-to-recycle items at Manual Tech Career Center, 1320 Truman Road, from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 5.
The event is in conjunction with America Recycles Day.
Kansas City municipal government will take waste tires, yard waste, and household hazardous waste including batteries, oil, paint and antifreeze. The yard waste and tire dropoff are for Kansas City, Mo., residents only. The household hazardous waste service is for residents of Kansas City and other participating communities outlined at https://www.kcwaterservices.org/programs/hhw/. No commercial dropoffs.
Other vendors and services are open to everyone:
▪ Surplus Exchange: cell phones, computers, modems, televisions, VCRs, DVD players and other technology items. All cathode-ray-tube items have a charge of $20.
▪ Disabled Veterans: seeking clothing, accessories, books, footwear, toys, linens, housewares and small appliances, but only if they are all in good working condition.
▪ Ripple Glass: glass food and beverage containers of any color, including mason jars and wine glasses.
▪ RevolveKC: bicycles to be refurbished.
▪ Truman Habitat: building materials, gently used furniture.
▪ Avenue of Life: used mattresses to be recycled; gently used furniture and household appliances in good working condition appreciated, to be redistributed.
▪ Document shredding: on-site shredding, but documents must be in bags or boxes.
