Houston flooding images, from dramatic rescues to a midwife on a swan
The devastating power of water can be seen in videos shot since Sunday in Houston.
At least five people have died as a result of major flooding in the country’s fourth-largest city. More than a foot of rain fell beginning late Sunday night, shutting down major highways, closing schools and forcing the evacuation of hundreds of residents around the city.

Traffic cameras showed two of the victims drive around barricades and unsuccessfully try to drive through a flooded underpass.
Two other people were found in submerged vehicles.
One man who tried to drive on a flooded street got help from a KTRK-TV reporter who just happened to be on the scene. Reporter Steve Campion yells at the man to swim away from the car, which is quickly going under.
On a lighter note, midwife Cathy Allen Rude found an ingenious way to get to work at the Katy Birth Center.
