PHOENIX – A puppy landed on the wrong side of the law with the Phoenix police, or rather the underside of it.

Police say the dog became stuck in the undercarriage of a patrol vehicle Wednesday.

Sgt. Vincent Lewis says the canine run-in happened when an officer was on afternoon patrol. The officer pulled his Chevrolet Tahoe over when the Chihuahua mix ran under the vehicle.

The animal refused to move for at least 20 minutes, even rejecting a hot dog.

Animal control workers responded and got the dog out.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control spokeswoman Melissa Gable said Thursday the pup, who has been dubbed Tahoe, had no tag or microchip.

If nobody claims the dog after 72 hours, she will be eligible for adoption.
