Wife accused of locking husband in bedroom, setting house on fire

VANCLEAVE, Miss. – A 55-year-old Mississippi woman is in jail after authorities say she barricaded her husband in a bedroom and then set their house on fire.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell tells multiple media outlets that deputies found the husband, 49-year-old Michael Salter, standing in the front yard of the home Monday talking with neighbors in Vancleave.

Michael Salter told investigators his wife, Pamela Ruth Salter, had barricaded him in a bedroom and then set the house on fire.

Michael Salter said he forced his way out of the bedroom and put the fire out as emergency personnel arrived.

Deputies say they found Pamela Salter hiding in nearby woods a short time later.

She was charged with felony aggravated domestic violence and is being held without bond.
