NY police investigate woman’s killing, man’s train death
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Authorities are investigating a possible link between the deaths of a woman found outside a suburban New York apartment building and a man struck by a train.
The woman, in her 60s, was found in the street of a working-class neighborhood in Farmingdale, Long Island, at around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
A taxi passenger told Newsday he saw a severed head. Police declined to comment when asked to confirm that the woman was decapitated.
A half-hour later, a man in his 30s was killed by a nearby Long Island Rail Road train.
The gory scene occurred outside a well-manicured, 2-story brick building with light yellow and white Tudor-style accents.
A house across the street is festively decorated with a mock Halloween graveyard.
